The superb library at RBAI is housed in the newly restored Christ Church , and was opened in September 2003.

It is a valuable and lively resource centre for all pupils and staff providing study and research facilities through the provision of books, newspapers, periodicals, videos, DVDs and internet-linked computers boasting a vast array of software.

Stock and Facilities

The library holds over 12,000 books. In addition, stock also includes a variety of magazines, newspapers and non-printed media. There are 24 internet linked laptops running Windows XP and a huge array of software, both cross-curricular, and subject specific.

One colour and one black and white laser printer offer printing facilities within the library, and there is a black and white photocopier.

In a separate yet distinct area of the library lies the extensive careers library with information on career choices; university courses; university and college prospectuses; gap years. There are also an additional six computers with career software applications of Pathfinder and Odyssey 2.0

Staffing

The school library is managed by a full time chartered librarian, and a part time library assistant. A group of pupil librarians help to run the library during lunch-times.

Library Rules and General Information

•  Opening Hours: 8:30am- 4:30 pm Mon-Fri

•  All pupils and staff can borrow books and non-book sock

•  Pupils in junior forms can borrow up to 3 books at a time and seniors up to 5 books

•  The loan period for books is two weeks, and for DVDs two nights

•  No food or drink is permitted in the library

•  No bags are to be brought into the library

•  No unruly/ disrespectful behaviour

•  All chairs must remain at their designated desks, and may not be moved to other desks
